Recently I moved a small percentage of my bankroll on to the Merge network in order to play super turbo sit and goes and MTT’s. Merge is a network which has many skins on the one platform, similar to iPoker in that regard. Although these games are extremely high variance, I believe that you can show a serious profit in the long run. This is because the fields on Merge are extremely weak, for every competent player you encounter there are two fish – which is great Link Rajabandot!
I think the system used for Merge rakeback is a good one. The network doesn’t appear to offer flat rakeback, which is of course always preferred by players (me included). However the VIP scheme here is extremely aggressive, you do not have to rake much at all to hit the maximum rakeback figure – which is 45%. From what I have read on the forums you only have to rake like $1,000 to achieve this, which is great because it caters to players of all levels unlike Party Poker and Pokerstars.
My main problem with the network is (as the title suggests) whether or not my money is safe here. If I firmly believed that it was then I would certainly move more money here and grind Merge full time. However, I do not think anyone knows what the situation is with online poker in the USA just now. And with Merge allowing US players to continue playing it does make you wonder about the legality. Obviously anyone who reads this will know that I lost a chunk of money on Full Tilt Poker and I cannot risk being crippled like this again.
In conclusion, I love the games on the network and I believe that they will be extremely profitable. But the network as a whole does kind of worry me; I mean we all know what happened on Black Friday. Some clarification about the situation there would be great, because otherwise I just don’t see why anyone would put any significant sum of money on the network at all. If I was to receive this then I would play there exclusively, as with winnings plus Merge rakebackI am very sure it would be a positive experience!
